Perceptions and Perspectives on an Image
Text- The color of the picture is very
simple, not only is the picture black and white, but the picture was taken with
the intent of being black and white. The picture is very simple but is able to
get the point across to the audience.
Reader- The picture remind
me of what my parents use to tell me; "don’t listen to what others say, you are
beautiful and smart no matter what."
Author- The picture is
actually from a TV show called, One Tree Hill. The students were given them an
assignment to define themselves as people don’t see them. The author wanted to
show media or other effect the way you see yourself even if your peers see you
as pretty, and popular.
Constraints- I have always
been raised to look at myself as different, individual, and having my own
identity rather than having to look like what others tell me.
Exigency- The emergency of the photo shows that,
more people most young women start to believe they have to look a cretin way
making physiological issues more common.
By doing this assignment I had the chance to look at non-print text in a different way. I got
the chance to look at picture in a whole new light. By not only looking at the
picture for the point of view from the reader and author I also looked at the
constraints and exigency of the picture this gave me more than one outlook of
the picture to gain the true understanding of the non-print text.
